Mortex is a high-quality decorative finish, more specifically a multifunctional plaster used for coating mineral surfaces. It is currently widely used on floors, walls and furniture. Mortex can match the look of tadelakt (Moroccan decorative plaster) or the look of solid concrete. In addition, due to its complete watertightness, Mortex is ideal for bathrooms, shower rooms, hammams, pool finishes and outdoor plaster and is a valuable replacement for tiles. Due to its strength and heat resistance, it can also be used as a top layer for kitchen worktops. This obviously requires certain precautions. Mortex was developed in Belgium 40 years ago and is less brittle and more wear-resistant than tadelakt. The available palette of colors is endless and different effects are possible in terms of finish. The product is suitable for most surfaces. Sometimes, however, an adapted bonding layer and reinforcement must first be applied. Be careful with unstable, cracked or mixed structures. The bonding surface must be in good condition, otherwise the plaster may come loose or crack.
